What Causes Turkey Neck?

What causes some people to get turkey neck? There area a few different causes of what is commonly called turkey neck, or loose skin on the neck.  Because it is a combination of lifestyle and history of weight gain/loss that causes turkey neck, anyone can be susceptible to it.

The skin under your neck will naturally loosen and sag over time because it is constantly being pulled by gravity.  Depending on the condition of your skin, it may sag at a different rate than someone else.  Well-maintained skin that is moisturized regularly tends to sag less as you age.  Taking in proper nutrients through diet and keeping a healthy blood flow through exercise can also decrease the sagging that would otherwise become a turkey neck.

When we gain weight, excess fat accumulates under our chin and neck area.  This fat stretches the skin and helps gravity pull it down.  Even when the weight is lost, the skin remains stretched and pulled by gravity, creating a permanent turkey neck appearance.

How do you tighten a turkey neck?  The loose skin can be tightened slightly in some people by performing facial and neck exercises that strengthen the muscles that hold the skin.  The results are usually minimal improvement that is temporary unless the exercises are continued daily.

Some people opt for surgical solutions to tightening loose skin on the face and neck.  Face lifts and neck lifts will usually greatly improve the turkey neck appearance.  These procedures are not something to take lightly, as they are as risky as any other invasive surgery.

An effective, non-invasive procedure called E-Light Skin Tightening can tighten skin elasticity using targeted light pulses and radio frequency.  This procedure can have dramatic results without the risk of surgery.  Results can be seen after one treatment, but optimal results are seen after 7- 8 treatments.  E-Light Skin Tightening is a safe and natural way to tighten your turkey neck.
